before starting this course i did a interactive media college course in which i learnt the basics in 3D modeling when starting this course i started looking in to the more advanced modeling techniques and learning new 3D modeling software such as Maya and zbrush.
again during the iterative course i learnt the basics of 3D animation which was letter the 3D software do all the work, now i have learnt have to do it myself using things such as frame by frame, rigging, mocap and bone movements although i used a site/software called called mixamo which auto rigs and lets you choose an animation this software is alot easier to use than the old one and produces smooth animations
before this course i had only looked at video on the unreal engine but now i have learnt how to actually use it make a game, animation, worlds and all sorts which i had never known before.
UV mapping and texturing
i have learnt how to make uv maps which then makes it easier to add textures to 3D models the way i make uv maps is different from how others make them as i colour the model using 3D body paint i colour each part a different colour then move the coloured UV map in to photoshop to add the more detailed textures.
I have started to learn the 3D software Maya as it is used by a lot of game development companies as well as being full of software and effects that others don’t. As well it is good to know more than one software making it easier to adapt to work.
I’ve been watching videos on YouTube.
i have now been on this course for 3 months now. after doing the 2 year college course i have found out that i have had to learn lots of new things and change to adapt to the course.
Digital Skills is a sort of new topic to me but i have enjoyed looking a t what goes in to x-code and making apps
Last year in college i had to do Digital Culture, this wasn’t my best subject as i found it boring and the tutor didn’t know what they was on about. but now that there is a better tutor and seeing how much Culture and groupings can impact the game industry
what is Microsoft HololLens?
HoloLens is essentially a holographic computer built into a headset that lets you see, hear and interact with holograms within an environment such as a living room or an office space.Microsoft’s HoloLens could have greater gaming potential than we thought, with a new video showing Halo 5 being streamed from an Xbox One to the still in-development headset.
Project manager Varun Mani posted a clip to his YouTube channel, showing him seamlessly transitioning from playing the game on a conventional TV to the virtual screen that HoloLens can “mount” onto walls in the real world.
Mani shows how the HoloLens can be used to position a high-def remote screen in the player’s field of vision, and use its eye-tracking and gesture controls to resize and reorient the image. It’s likely that the game was streaming over a local WiFi network rather than over the internet, as the action looks smooth on the HoloLens’ screen.
Ultimately, streaming to HoloLens is still a conventional Haloexperience — a first-person shooter viewed through a 2D plane, but it’s undeniably a cool way to play the game.
It’s also a very early test of the technology, and more exciting things could come from it. Just providing a second screen for when the family TV is occupied, without having to own a second bulky TV, could be of great use.
Although Microsoft showed off HoloLens at E3 2015 with a Minecraft demo, its two main showcases have focused less on gaming and more on how it would be used in academic or professional scenarios. Mani’s clip, though brief, shows the helmet may yet have appeal to gamers.
I have a gaming fan page on Facebook, so i decided to design and made a new logo using cinema 4D.
i started by drawing out a wolf using splines and extrude to make shapes. i made a shield using 3 cudes then used the boole tool to cut the wolf shape out of the shield. as a back drop i added a floor and a set of gears.
for texturing i used the Cinema 4D presets gold, steel, and iron. for the blue “energy shield” in side the wolf i made the texture using 2 noise textures and colouring them different.
Captains Log. i made this page for things that i do in my free time such as models or tutorials.
20th of October i started to watch tutorials on maya and zbrush. i hope to use these softwares as they are profession softwares. i learnt the basics of maya and zbrush along with textures and Alphas used in zbrush.
